Lea Gabay is a French-American, English as Second/Foreign Language teacher.
Lea will be graduating this December from San Francisco State University in San Francisco, California, USA with a Master’s Degree in Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages. She has previously taught in various countries such as Vietnam, Spain, France, and Germany.
During her graduate program, she published two articles: One about her experience teaching English online to female Afghan students through an organization called AIWR (Alliance for International Women’s Rights) and the other about an intercultural play that she wrote and hopes to integrate into a curriculum and eventually teach. She will also be presenting her final project on a curriculum that she created and piloted with one of her students from Afghanistan.
Lea is particularly interested in teaching refugee and immigrant populations and interfaith/intercultural dialog building. She hopes to gain more experience in conflict resolution and peace building to further her goal of promoting tolerance among diverse communities. She has recently participated in a peacebuilding program through the Red Elephant Foundation called Building Peace Projects.
Lea views peace as as goal that each and every individual on this planet should strive for and believe in. She hopes that projects such as Postcards for Peace will continue to build bridges and establish connections between people from every corner of the globe. She is very grateful to be able to join such an amazing organization.
