My name is Priya Vats and I am a law student from India.
I had always grappled with the issues of gender, caste, religion etc and had no clear vision. It was later that I realised and understood the gender-based, caste-based, religion-based politics, politics that feeds on human emotions.
The attacks on liberal voices and institutions and minorities that have intensified over time and people being forced into self-censorship have shown me just causes to stand by the truth and movements all over the world and fight for it because silence can be used as a tool of mass destruction.
It is in a silent and submissive society that injustice, inequality and violence breed. It’s a sign of the times that there is a gross violation of human rights all over the world and so it is our collective responsibility to support each other and speak up.
I believe in the power of youth voice that is rising together, everywhere, for change.
