Talking about peace with students is more important today than ever before. This is why we promote the International Day of Peace. The conversation is continued throughout the year with the hope of developing future generations of peacemakers.
Our Kindergarten and first grade students read The Peace Book by Todd Parr during their library classes. The story defines peace as a way to act and suggests peaceful ways that even our youngest children can understand and practice. After reading the story, the students were asked to write their own versions of “Peace is….”
These are just a few of the wonderful outcomes, and boy do we wish world leaders would listen to these inspiring words of wisdom.
